Was liebst Du am Ballonfahren / Why do you like ballooning?
-Der Sport hat sehr viel mit Natur zu tun, außerdem sieht man die Welt, wenn sie am schönsten ist, am Morgen bei Sonnenaufgang. Mit dem Wetter spielen und versuchen, das Beste daraus machen. Die Freiheit oben am Himmel. / The sport is close to nature and one sees the world when it is most beautiful in the morning after sunrise. Playing with the unknown element "weather" and trying to make the best out of it. The freedom of movement in the sky.

Wie hast Du angefangen? / How did you start ballooning?
Ich fing das Ballonfahren 1976 in den USA an, nachdem ich Ballons über mein Hotel hab fahren sehen. / I started ballooning in 1976 in the USA after watching balloons drifting a few meters over my hotel room.

Die eindrucksvollsten Erlebnisse? / Your most impressive experiences?
- Zu viele! Meine ganze Familie ist schon Ballon gefahren. Wir sind schon auf allen fünf Kontinenten gefahren, am Polarkreis und am Äquator. Wir haben viele Ballonfahrer getroffen, mit denen wir Freundschaft schlossen. / Too many! Ballooning was a family affair and we have flown around the world on all five continents, on the polar circle and the equator. We have met a lot of people of all races and colours, many of whom became our friends.
- eine unvergessliche Fahrt über 300km ging nach Holland, um meine Mutter an ihrem Geburtstag zu besuchen. / One remarkable flight of 300km was to Holland to visit my mother on her birthday.
- Eine weitere Fahrt ging 7.000 km über Australien mit Ballon und Auto. / Another one was 7.000 km across Australia in balloon and car.
- Ein anderes Erlebnis war die Fahrt über die Iguacu Wasserfälle in Brasilien. / Yet another one was over the Iguacu water falls in Brazil.
